Gun control has been at the forefront of this election cycle and despite massive popular support from both gun owners and Americans in general, Congress has failed to do anything on the issue. Mass shootings, the tragedies in Chicago, and tens of thousands of accidents and suicides a year haven't moved Congressional Republicans. In an effort to force a vote, Democratic House members led by Civil Rights hero Rep. John Lewis staged a sit-in on the House floor. Outside the Capitol protesters joined in support with chants of "No Bill, No Break".
Update: After 24 hours House Democrats ended their sit in. Supporters stood with them outside of the Capitol for the entire time, demanding that Congress take action. The sit in trended globally and was watched by thousands of people on Periscope after Speaker Ryan cut off CSPAN cameras.
